What are Intents in Android System? Different types of Intents in Android System. Example of how to create different types of Intents.

Intents in android system are something that activates some components in your application. In other words, intents are used to activate an activity. In an android system we have two types of intents –

  • Implicit Intent - Implicit Intents are used to specify particular actions that your application is capable of doing and any application on the android system capable of that will be able to use your application and users will be able to choose which app they wanna use.
For more details and example of Implicit Intents read this article too...
  • Explicit Intent - Explicit Intents in an android application are used to activate specific components of an android application. That means you have to explicitly specify which activity or component you want to activate. So if you wanna activate another activity you use explicit intents to explicitly say “I wanna use that activity.”
